WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD
Jan,3,2021
I spent the day basking in the sun and enjoying the beauty
of the trees. I remembered being a kid
and climbing a tree, it made me smile. It
reminded me of a friend from Colorado who sent me a link on youtube, about a
forest of giant trees that were unearthed. I wondered had the entire earth been covered
with them, mile-high trees! Wow! It was a beautiful thought.
I was curious what a time traveler might say about our trees today?
Would he call them tiny? What
might he say about our atmosphere, the air we breathe, the brightness, or
perhaps possibly the dimness of the sunshine’s rays? Could it be that the sun which we call bright
is actually dim to a traveler from 200 years ago? I worked 4 years as a tree man and a saw
operator, and I remember my employer who spent 50 years in the arbor business,
remarking that the leaves of trees had changed in some way. “They used to be broader,” he said. He wasn’t a scientist, just an astute
observer and I wasn’t developed enough or didn’t know enough to extrapolate the
deeper truth in it. Nevertheless, I’m
assured we won’t know what a blessing the leaves, the trees, the rivers, the
oceans, the mountains, and the beautiful horizons were to us and our lives
until we can’t be out and in them anymore.
And my mind drifted and I began to wonder, you know how we
wonder sometimes; would the youngest of my children even be allowed to come
outside in 10 years? Would the air
quality support them or be a hazard to their health? I’m almost certain that within 20 years from today the people will be struggling to
save the planet, I say this based on the
many green issues that are being ignored today by the industrialists, polluters, and contaminators,
that goes for a green dollar and not a green planet.
Today, Coronavirus is
running amuck, in name, in part, and indeed, in part, but as Mr. King a retired minister who gave 40 years of service, gave me sweet counsel, he would
say, “Kevin, this too shall pass.”
Mankind is virulent, the breath of life is not easily quenched. Coronavirus isn’t the greatest opposition to an
ever-continuing world, but contaminated and polluted water is, Vis a vis- Flint,
Michigan. And then there is global warming, the waste products of nuclear energy,
coal burning noxious emissions, gas-burning engines, three-headed fish, and
snakehead leach toads, Oh, excuse me.
It actually seems like
a grand hill to climb with today’s political ping pong, i.e, the Republicans
and the Democrats. Somehow
characteristically, it's always the other sides fault, it can be dizzying and
nauseating. I won’t nor will the rest of
the world place the future of this planet in government hands, because with a profit motive we have
already witnessed, they’ll muck it up…in my heart, I know the people of the
world will rise in defense and protection of their planet and their succeeding
generations. Then hand it off to the people to whom it is in pledge…… LOVE WINS, THE END
