Introduction to Real Talk

Hello, my name is Kevin Payne and I am a 47 year old African American male born in the great state of Tennessee. My passion is writing and speaking and I have a zeal for fostering the lives of young men who might be considered at risk. This is because I to was an at risk youth. At 25 years old I shot a sheriff deputy. I went to prison for nearly 11 years. I have been out of prison for 10 years. Now 21 years later I have something to say to the young men of color that is in the at risk category. Instead of focusing on all the could have been and should have been I decided to focus on the actual realities of my life and pay them forward. The thematic expression of my life is, "confession is good for the soul." In this way I have prevented the devil from having power over me. It is axiomatic with saying in no way will I be silenced and by no means will I be fearful to speak. Every person has a testimony and every other person receiving a testimony is empowered through knowledge and experience.

I want to encourage every person to share their experiences, failures, and triumphs. And not to fear rejection or shame because the benefit that a person will receive that is going through the same thing is greater than the shame one might feel or the fear that the information may be used against them. What we need for our people to grow in 2020 is a group of people who are open, honest, to step out of our glorified selves and admit to other human beings that they have descended to unknown fathoms as well during pursuits in their life. In this way we can have exponential leaps in learning as to oppose to linear jumps. A linear jump is equal to 8 plus 8. A exponential leap is 8 times 8 which is 64 times 8 but you can only have this growth with the truth and that is Real Talk.
